Not Only Ruins & Relics- Part 2

Rome is such an amazing city and I'm pleased to have had the opportunity to experience it with my husband. There are literally a million words I could use to describe it, but in all honesty it leaves my quite speechless. So I'm going to let the pictures do the talking...

*Trajan's Column is 138 feet high and made from white marble. The intricate detailing on the column tells the story of the war between the Romans and the Dacians. At the top of the column is a statue of Trajan himself.

*The Trevi Fountain is the most popular in Europe and some say the most beautiful, which I agree with 100%. The middle statue is Neptune, god of the sea, and the statues on the bottom left and right are the Tritons guiding the sea horses. The opposite tempers of the horses represent the moods of the sea...fun fact huh?

*Legend has it that if you throw a coin into the fountain you will one day return to Rome. Most people don't know but technically you're suppose to throw it with your right hand over your left shoulder. My husband didn't throw a coin so I guess my next trip will be without him, according to legend...lol.
I want to come back to Rome!!
I absolutely love this fountain. There are so many details that you can only take in if you see it in person

*Piazza di Spagna, also know as the Spanish steps, was full of lovers. Of course the time that I go to the Spanish steps, they aren't decorated in Azaleas (because it wasn't May) or any other type of flower...lol.

*The Roman Colosseum has so much history and life behind it that the feeling overcomes you when you're standing in front of it, even more so when you enter.
Outside of the Colosseum

*Below the stage where the games were held, was the storage for the animals and dead carcasses (both animal & human). There were also lift systems to raise the animal up onto the stage when it was its turn to fight. If you're interested in researching places, history, or what have you, there are tons of things online about the Colosseum that are very interesting.
Inside of the Colosseum

*It was hard to get a fabulous picture of the Colosseum at night because we were on a double decker moving tour bus...lol. But here's the best shot we did get, which still shows the essence of the beauty.
The night view...how gorgeous with the orange-ish lights

*Can you imagine living in this time period? Seeing the walls of the Colosseum being built? Or watching the many games that took place?
Astounding architecture

*At the National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II also stands the tomb of the unknown soldier. Being a military wife, this really touched my heart and I couldn't help but to just stand in awe for a while. You can't see it in the picture but there is also an eternal flame that burns constantly for this WW1 soldier. There were 11 unknown bodies and a mother, that her son never came back from the war, was allowed to choose one to be buried and placed at the monument. This really makes you question if she picked her own son obviously without knowing so...I like to think that she did.

Hopefully you've enjoyed a piece of Rome from this post. I was going to include photos from the Vatican and the Vatican Museum in this post but I'm going to make a separate one. I have so many cool things to share from there! So check back soon for St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel, and more.

Gracelynn Rose Designs & GIVEAWAY

Today I'm very excited to introduce everyone to Gracelynn Rose Designs! The owner, Stephanie, is one of my closest and dearest friends that I consider more of a sister. The first time we met it was instant friendship, now we've known each other for 5 years. Even though we're currently thousands of miles apart it's as if we never left. Swirly Pink Black Lampwork Swarovski Crystal Bracelet Stephanie has been designing her own jewelry since 2001 and selling it to customers along with a few stores. Each design is her own, delicately handcrafted, and unique. She did an entire jewelry line based on Twilight (which of course I loved every piece) that was so beautiful AND she sold a line of pearl & crystal bracelets to David's Bridal and those were stunning. For my birthday Stephanie sent me a pair of earrings in the mail and I fell in love with them and wear them every chance I get. Might I add that they are 1 of a kind, not another pair like them...   It&

E.L.F. Cosmetic Brushes...Fave or Fail?

Admittedly I've been using the same Mary Kay makeup brushes for a while now, along with a few other random brands thrown in. I was just satisfied with my MK brushes because they washed well and have help up for a really long time. But it was definitely time for a whole new set and I had trouble making up my mind on which makeup brushes to try. At first my plan was to snag a few from different companies to see what I liked best, but then E.L.F. Cosmetics had a 50% off sale with free shipping over $35. Naturally I had to give it a shot since I was getting so much bang for my buck. I already knew that I wasn't too fond of their cheaper $1 brushes so I opted for the Studio Line which ranges from $3-$10 and I'd heard great reviews. All together I got 15 brushes (1 didn't make it to the picture) for only $37, definitely a steal! Keep reading to find out if it was worth it.     I am extremely pleased with these E.L.F makeup

Short on Inspiration?

HOLY COW! There is so much inspiration out there for denim shorts! Usually I'm more of a skirt/dress person in the spring and summer, but I'm just really feeling all the cool shorts out there and wanna be a part of it all. I wish you could all come to my house and have a big ole' DIY party, sip on mojitos, laugh, and have a good time. Instead it looks like the hubby is gonna be helping me out because I can't wait any longer to do this. Originally I was going to wait on this post until after I finished making the shorts, but I just couldn't wait. I mean can you tell how excited I am about this?  Okay, so I can't tell you ALL the ideas that are running around in my mind that I'm sure is run by mignons , then there would be no element of surprise. But here are a few... My two faves are the purple & green dyed and the flag shorts! Tonight I am going to the Airmen's Attic to scout around for good denim that I can turn around and destroy.
